It seemed like a long wait....

The first lemon yellow bloom .....

The scent of the vine on my finger tips.

The first hint of golden orange hues..

To the scarlet colors still on the vine.

To finally.....

Thin crisp bacon fried to perfection, young tender spinach leaves, Duke's mayo, fresh bread, and Alizarin crimson slices sprinkled with sea salt and ground pepper.

I wanted the tomato juice to run down my elbows as I took the first bite.

It did.

Man, you have tomatoes already? Mine have just started to set fruit on half the bushes. Still no fruit on the cantaloupe or cucumbers...

That is simply gorgeous and slightly obscene! What a glorious bite that must have made.

Can you imagine there are folks in this world who haven't known the pleasure of a home grown tomato!

You hurt me, Jenni, you really do. Johnny asked me this morning, "How much did we spend on the garden this year?" I said "I don't know, maybe $40?" He said, "Well, then that is the dearest tomato ever grown."

Yes. One tomato. And still green, at that. It has been raining here forever.

I'm so jealous. We've gotten one tomato. The squirrls of doom have taken the others.

We just tasted our first two with BLT's also. Nothing better than tomatoes on the vine.
