Candy Corn....

This waxy golden yellow, tangerine orange, white tipped triangular treat.......well......
It is not my calorie of choice, but.......every once in a while, like this time a year I just need a nibble of two of this seasonal flavor. Then that craving is over until next year.....

Am I the only one who has to eat each kernel like this?

Then this?

For as long as I remember eating candy corn...That is how I have had each kernel.

In other news..........

I couldn't post about Candy Corn with out sharing the packaging label. Would it be so bad to pay $3.00 for this package of Candy corn instead of the $1.50 if all of the Brach's Candy Corn manufacturing jobs were still in this country? I usually choose not to buy when I see something like this.....but I did not see it until I got home and had the package open.

do you ever try to make vampire fangs out of them?

I eat it like that too...but I actually prefer the happy little pumpkins over the corn design.

Oh no! Now I will feel guilty when I make candy-corn fangs from Mexico-made corn.
I too love Candy Corn, just once a year.

Dana- It is sad candy corn is made in Mexico.

Jean & Melinda- The little pumpkins are cute. But sometime too much sweet in one bite for me.

Jessie & Why S- Yes, I have made fangs. Which is difficult with out them cracking.

One Halloween when I was 5 yrs old, my mom made toasted pumpkin seeds and put them in a dish with candy corn. I ate until my stomach hurt. ....and then felt pretty sick for the next few days :-) to this day, my stomach does a little flip when I see even a photo of candy corn :-)

As for Mexico, I'd venture a guess that not many Americans are still keen on making candy corn for minimum wage ;-) Free trade is not always bad....keep the high paying jobs here and let the low paying go elsewhere. That way we get low prices on things like candy corn and have good jobs in order to buy as many bags as we want...and we have stable neighbors. Just my 2 cents worth :-)

That is the *only* way to eat candy corn (though like others here, I can give myself a stomachache with the pumpkins--yum)!

My husband will not eat the little white end. He says it is too sweet!! Quirky?

When we loose manufacturing jobs, minimum wage or not, we loose a ton of other jobs that support the manfacturing job.

Supplers to the plant. Raw material supplers as well as office product supplers. For example... A Mexican plant is not gonna buy paper from the local TN office supply company that delivers. Hurting the office supply company. The office supply company has to lay off a delivery person. The paper company hurts because the Mexican plant now buys all the paper from a South American supplier, not from say....a paper mill here in Georgia. The paper mill closes. More jobs are lost.

Now think about all the products that the candy plant uses on a daily basis. Soap for hand washing, toilet paper, light bulbs, hair nets, etc. Next think of all the raw materials and manufacturing that goes into each of these products.

Let's also think about the plant engineers, that ran the machines. They lost their job. The executive assistant lost his/her job. The managers lost their job.
All these people lost their job when the candy plant closed. Not just the sugar stirrer.

Also think about the fuel needed to ship Brach's America's #1 candy corn back to America.

One of my best friends lives in Mexico, so this one time you bought by mistake, you can help her out a little.

But really, and not trying to be un-PC here--do you seriously think if the candy corn was made in the USA it would be made by American citizens? Just a thought. But I do know what you mean. Buy local! :)
