A bit of Christmas around ThirteenEleven.

Trying my best to rid myself of a infestation of the humbugs....

I dipped mini pretzels in chocolate and sprinkled with red and green nonpareils.

....Then ate um....just 10.

I made the red velvet cake balls made famous around the internets by Bakerella. Then boxed them up in gift tins. (Found at Hobby Lobby 1/2 price)

....after eating 10.

I baked Christmas cookies which I have not done since I was 11. Back then we only used sugar sprinkles to decorate the cookies. I am not sure if that was a trend or if Mom did not want to mess with the mess of icing the cookies.

I did not eat many of these, but I did bite a head off a snowman. Chris did discover that Puppy loves the sugar cookies.

I am boxing these up for gifts, too.

Finally we put up a tree, which we did not do last year. We seem to be an every other year tree sort of people.

I used the old fashioned ceramic C7 bulbs mixed in with yellow mini lights.

My daughter in law just made some of those cake balls. I could not believe how good they were and proceeded to eat more than I should have....but hey it's the holidays!!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and your family.

PS....we miss your blog.

Jan,

I know I was very surprised how good the cakeballs were and the recipe made 97 balls using my small cookie scoop. My sister brought some to our house at her last visit.

I think I will use homemade cream cheese icing next time.

Hope all is well.

Chocolate pretzels are crack. Yoghurt pretzels are meth. Both are banned here until Solstice & they're gone by Xmas eve! #noselfcontrol

I love the use of the ceramic C7 bulbs - they take me back to my childhood!

Happy holidays to you and yours!

YES! Chocolate pretzels are crack! My test run, the other week, I ate way too many. This time I had more self control.

Vintagelaundress.
The C7 bulbs so remind me of my grandmother's house. Glad you stopped by 1311.

The tree is absolutely beautiful. I love the old-fashioned lights as well as the mini ones. I must confess that I copied the recipe from the link you put in your blog and sent it to Jan -- and then I read the comments. Here I thought I was sending her something she didn't know about! Sigh.
