In the alley driveway the retaining wall is built around a tree.
The tree is old and scraggly and looks yucky most of the year.
But, in the last few days of May and the first week or so of June something magical happens in the alley.
Bright yellow flowers rain gently down onto the driveway.
Meaning the Golden Raintree is in full bloom.
The blooms on the tree almost go overlooked, blending in with the chartreuse green leaves.
However if you are hot, dirty and dragging a ladder from the front porch to the basement. Then you pause to feel a gentle breeze cooling the sweat from your brow, and out of the corner of your eye you see something falling so you look up and notice it is raining bright yellow flowers.
You realize that the tree is in bloom.

All the more reason to appreciate that tree!
Beautiful! I've wanted to plant one of these, but I'm running out of room for big trees!
Jenni, that's lovely! There's a movie, "Raintree County," where they talk about a 'golden raintree' - now I know. Thanks for sharing it.
