Flurries...

They have been warning us all week about the pending snow, and this morning there are flurries. Just when the Pear tree is breaking out in the first blooms.

Guess no pear preserves again this year.

I don't see the "Snow Storm of the Century" happening this March as it did in '93.
It is sticking to the deck and trees, but the high is suppose to be 40 today.

In '93, The blizzard here, was much like what is described in this link from Alabama.

I was in college at Auburn about 45 minutes away, the ever so wise weather folks kept telling us we were not going to have snow, but just a little bit further North, a couple of inches were predicted.

Like I've told you before, us Southern folks get a little excited about snow.

That night I packed a bag and traveled here to spend the night with my family. The next morning we awoke to the muffled thunder and at least a foot of snow. The snow kept coming down .....

OK!! It is snow here now, not flurries, hard driving snow...7:36a.m.

I remember the horses in the field across the street from our house kept running, kicking up sprays of the powder behind them. I also remember my sister and I going out to take a picture of those horses and she fell in a snow drift up past her waist.

Southern girls no nothing about snow drifts....I just saw my sister shrink 3 feet before my eyes.

We proceeded to get the silly giggles and ..........she will have to tell you the rest....

I remember the snow of '93! I was in college and working part-time at a job I hated (Oshman's Sporting Goods). I overslept that morning, and woke up at 8:30am--which is when I was supposed to be at work! That was the best snow day ever! LOL
